Lost key code for 2017 Versys 650 need help

I just picked up a used 2017 Versys 650 but can't find the key code tag. I looked at the ignition, but no luck. I'm trying to figure out how to get a new key made without it. Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas where else the code might be, or what I should do?

You'll need to pull the ignition and have a locksmith read the code off the barrel, or just have them cut a new key from it or they could also get the code from your VIN, but it depends.

@versysexpl0rerteam I guess it's best to start by calling a Kawasaki dealer with your VIN. Based on what I know, they can pull the key code for you. Otherwise, a locksmith can read it directly from the ignition barrel without much hassle.
